Bios Diana M. Collazo, Partner Snapshot:
Diana focuses her practice on patents in biotechnology, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals. She assists clients in developing patent portfolio and prosecution strategies in connection with products in clinical development, and has an active opinion and counseling practice with emphasis on transactional matters. A Bigger Picture: Diana counsels life sciences clients ranging from multinational pharmaceutical companies to start-ups in developing and executing patent portfolio and prosecution strategies, as well as providing patent opinions and analysis. Her experience on transactional matters includes evaluating third party in-licensing and acquisition opportunities, due diligence review, product and technology clearances, and licensing negotiations. Particular areas of expertise include biologics, pharmaceuticals, drug design and discovery technologies, formulations and drug delivery, production methods, and therapeutic and diagnostic product planning and development. Before joining LL&A, Diana was a Principal in the Boston office of Fish & Richardson, P.C., a large multinational IP law firm where she was a member of the Life Science Prosecution Practice Group. Diana also worked as an in-house patent attorney at a large pharmaceutical company where she advised business and scientific teams on patent matters relating to biotechnology. During this time, she developed and managed several large patent portfolios, participated in negotiations and drafting of agreements with particular emphasis on patent issues, and managed collaborations with several biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Diana’s graduate research at Harvard University focused on applying techniques in molecular biology to study the developing brain. She also conducted undergraduate research in chemistry at Cornell University in the synthesis of optically pure inhaled anesthetics. Diana is a member of the Massachusetts Bar, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Diana received her J.D. from Boston College Law School. She received her Ph.D. in biological chemistry and molecular pharmacology from Harvard University, and her A.B. in chemistry from Cornell University. Outside the office, Diana loves to spend time with her family. She enjoys reading Spanish literature and vacationing in warm tropical places.
