Tom focuses his practice in a variety of intellectual property areas, including patent counseling and prosecution, trademarks, copyright and trade secret protection.  He has worked with various technologies, including medical devices, computing hardware, software and business methods, and his clients range from individual entrepreneurs to multinational corporations. Tom uses the insight gained from nearly a decade of business and technical experience in the software and petroleum industries to maximize his clients’ return on their intellectual property investment.

Tom joined LL&A as a summer associate in 2005. He is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Tom brings a business-oriented perspective to his practice based on his substantial technical and management experience. At Radiant Systems, Tom held a series of leadership positions in product development through which he honed his understanding of the information technology used to deliver point of sale and enterprise solutions to retail clients. Under Tom’s leadership, this technology was used to integrate Radiant’s products with their clients’ existing enterprise architecture and develop retail financial management and business intelligence software. Also, Tom worked with Radiant’s Intellectual Property Department to establish the procedures required to ensure copyright protection for Radiant’s software.

Prior to working for Radiant Systems, Tom spent several years working as a hands-on developer and systems analyst. In these roles, Tom established a detailed understanding of many different computing platforms and programming languages.

Tom is the proud father of two brilliant daughters. His passion for new experiences has led him around the country, and spawned an eclectic mix of personal interests including Thai and Chinese cooking, landscaping projects, gardening, and the occasional game of chance.
