Keith’s practice involves all areas of intellectual property and related corporate transactional matters.  Prior to joining LL&A, Keith served for six years as a vice president and as a corporate in-house patent counsel at large public companies, where he held primary responsibility for managing all aspects of the corporation’s intellectual property.  Keith is well-experienced in a variety of technologies, including materials and equipment used in the fabrication of printed circuit boards, functional and decorative chemistries, and mechanical and electro-mechanical devices, sophisticated networks and system security architecture, and computer hardware and software.

A Bigger Picture:

Keith joined LL&A in January 2004, and practices in all areas of intellectual property as well as corporate transactional matters.  Keith offers a unique perspective when counseling clients, based on nearly fifteen years of combined experience in private practice and as in-house patent counsel.

Prior to joining the firm, Keith served as Vice President of Intellectual Property for Cookson Electronics, a leading supplier of materials and equipment to the printed circuit board fabrication industry.  At Cookson, Keith played and integral role in identifying and securing key technologies that helped expand Cookson’s product offerings.  He was also instrumental in overseeing the development of its extensive intellectual property portfolio, as well as the enforcement of its intellectual property against competitors, which resulted in either significant licensing fees or exclusive positions in key technological areas.  Keith’s significant corporate experience enables him to provide intellectual property and management services with an in-house perspective.

Keith also served as Assistant General Counsel for GTECH Corporation, the world’s largest lottery service provider. At GTECH, Keith focused on cultivating the company’s intellectual property portfolio.  He was one of fifteen company employees selected to participate in Performance Leadership, an intense, one-year program based on the teachings of Dr. Noel M. Tichy, the author of The Leadership Engine.  During this program, Keith and his teammates were tasked with completely overhauling the way in which GTECH developed and marketed new products.

While in private practice, Keith performed extensive patent and trademark prosecution at the St. Louis intellectual property law firm of Senniger, Powers, Leavitt & Roedel, where he counseled many small to medium sized companies in a diverse array of technologies.

Not wanting to be known as Dr. Noe, Keith eschewed graduate school in engineering and instead secured his law degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center, where he focused on intellectual property law.  During law school, Keith also worked as a Legal Intern for Digital Equipment Corporation.  Prior to entering law school, Keith received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he was a U.S. Army R.O.T.C. scholarship recipient.  He was a Design Engineer for Heidelberg USA (formerly Harris Graphics), where he served as a field engineer designing and testing folder equipment.

Outside the office, Keith spends his time with his wife and two energetic boys.  Having grown up in Laconia, New Hampshire, Keith and his family frequently visit Lake Winnipesaukee, where they enjoy boating, waterskiing and downhill skiing and snowboarding.  Keith is a Major in the Rhode Island Army National Guard, and presently serves as the Brigade Judge Advocate for the 103rd Field Artillery.
