Karen S. Borofsky V-Card

Karen S. Borofsky, Director of Administration
Snapshot:
  • Simmons College Graduate School of Management, M.B.A.;
    Brandeis University, B.A., Romance Languages (Spanish).

  • More than 20 years of experience working in Boston area law firms.

  • Member of the Board of Directors, and past Chair of the Programming Committee of WEST (Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology).

  • Member of the local and national chapters of the Association of Legal Administrators.

Together with the Director of IP Services, Karen manages the overall daily operations of the firm, and is specifically responsible for the financial, marketing, and benefits areas.  Her experience includes working at a number of local area law firms ranging from sole practitioners to firms of 125+ attorneys.

A Bigger Picture:

Karen is one of the many people who have worked closely with the partners to ensure that the work environment at LL&A is the balanced, efficient, welcoming atmosphere that it was envisioned to be from its beginning.

Karen brings to LL&A several years of law firm administrative experience.  Immediately prior to joining the firm, she managed a multi-office law firm in southern New Hampshire.  Prior to that, she served as Director of Marketing and Communications at a major Boston law firm.

Having graduated from the Simmons College Graduate School of Management, the only all-women’s MBA program in the United States, Karen has kept her focus on the promotion and advancement of women in the professions throughout her career.  She was one of the first law firm marketers to promote an advertising campaign in “Women’s Business,” a regional publication, and worked with the women attorneys at Hill & Barlow to develop from ground zero a targeted marketing program for them.

Karen also has been involved in WEST, Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology, since its early years, and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors.  In the past, she has also been involved with The Commonwealth Institute and the Springboard Enterprise Forums.

Together with Professor Mary Shapiro from the Simmons Graduate School of Management, Karen presented a national teleconference for the Association of Legal Administrators on issues relating to conflicts in the workplace and how to rise above them in order to efficiently accomplish work goals.

When she’s not working, Karen enjoys visiting with friends and family, experimenting with new recipes, and watching movies with (well-done) surprise endings.  Since the early 1990's Karen has made an annual (sometimes bi-annual) pilgrimmage to the Caribbean -- a tradition she hopes to continue for many years to come!
