Lisa R. Witham V-Card

Lisa R. Witham, Director of IP Services
Snapshot:
  • University of Southern Maine, B.A. (Criminology);
    Champlain College, A.A. (Paralegal Studies).

  • Member, Massachusetts Paralegals Association; Section Co-Chair, Intellectual Property.

  • Member, Paralegal Curriculum Advisory Committee, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education.

  • Member, Boston Patent Law Association.

  • Member, Association of Legal Administrators (local and national chapters).

Together with the Director of Administration, Lisa manages the overall daily operations of the firm, and is specifically responsible for all IP assistants, foreign filing and docketing personnel.  She is responsible for implementing, and contributes to the development of, the firm’s IP policies and procedures.  Lisa also provides training to the IP assistants and paralegals and is a resource for all areas of LL&A’s IP practice.

A Bigger Picture:

Lisa is one of LL&A’s founding employees, having managed the non-legal staff and its growth since the firm opened in 2003.  Now Lisa works diligently to ensure that the original vision of a collegial and efficient workplace is maintained on an ongoing basis.  In addition to her management responsibilities, Lisa also handles LL&A’s annuities and maintenance fee payments.  In 2006, Lisa received the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Unsung Hero Award for Operations Personnel.

Prior to joining LL&A, Lisa was the Director of Paralegal and Library Services at a large intellectual property firm in Boston where she oversaw the International Filing Department, Trademark Filing Department, Library Services/Searching, Litigation Paralegals, Patent Paralegals and the Annuity Department. Before serving as the Director of Paralegal and Library Services, Lisa was an international filing specialist.  In that role, she participated in the development, and eventual management, of the firm’s International Filing Department.  Lisa also assisted in implementing new policy and procedures relating to IP prosecution and docketing.

Lisa enjoys spending time with her family.  A perfect day is hanging out with her husband and 4 young children.  Lisa enjoys quiet time, reading, shopping, boating, skiing, the out doors and traveling.  Although she hasn’t traveled much in the past few years she has been able to explore the world through the eyes of a pre-schooler, two toddlers and an infant.  It’s amazing what you discover the second (third, fourth, and fifth) time around.
