Matthew H. Grady, Associate
Snapshot:
  • Suffolk University Law School, J.D., cum laude, concentration in Intellectual Property, with distinction;
    Boston University, currently pursuing M.S. in Computer Science;
    Duke University, B.A., Economics.

  • Former Law Clerk to the Justices of the Massachusetts’ Superior Court.

  • Substantial software experience, including ten years in the computer industry.

Matt is a second year associate who brings significant work experience in the computer sciences with him.  Matt also experienced first hand the variety and vagaries of the court system as judicial law clerk.  Matt focuses on assisting clients in the areas of networking, network management, security and software patents, as well assisting on patent litigation.

A Bigger Picture:

Matt joined LL&A in the fall of 2005.  He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Matt brings a solid foundation of practical experience in the computer sciences to LL&A.  While attending Duke University, Matt began his first business servicing, installing, and designing personal computer systems.  After graduation Matt joined the Baybank team, now Bank of America, in their on-line banking department.  Matt participated in the conversion of Baybank’s on-line application from an asynchronous dial up application into a world wide web application.

As one of Matt’s many hats, he assisted the Education Project in filming “Beacon Hill” by designing and maintaining a digital phone and a computer network for the project’s production office.  In 2000 at the end of post-production, Matt entered Worcester Polytechnic’s Certification program for C/C++ and Unix System Administration.

Matt spent the next three years at the CVS Corporation maintaining and improving their quality assurance labs.  At CVS Matt was promoted and brought into their pharmacy application initiative.  The initiative was designed to transition CVS’s legacy systems onto current server technology while translating the current pharmacy applications onto a new OS platform.

During his tenure at CVS, Matt attended Suffolk University Law School.  He graduated cum laude and earned distinction in his Intellectual Property Concentration.

Matt is a devoted husband, and father.  He enjoys a good movie, although perhaps not with the same attention as when he had initially branched out into the world of independent film.
