PRESS RELEASES Lowrie, Lando & Anastasi, LLP Expands Team and Office Space Cambridge, MA, November 14, 2008 – Lowrie, Lando and Anastasi, LLP (LL&A) today announced that Matthew Ambros, David M. Roccio, David Lu, and Anne Reynolds, have joined the firm, and that Allyson R. Hatton has become an associate of the firm. The Cambridge-based intellectual property law firm was recently listed as one of the largest IP firms in New England and, having grown from three to more than 30 lawyers in just five years, is one of the fastest growing IP firms in the country. “We are expanding and constantly on the lookout for talented professionals. At the moment we have several positions open in a variety of practices, and in just the past month, we have added several outstanding individuals to our firm,” said Keith Noe, LL&A’s hiring partner. “Our litigation, electrical and computer software, and life science practices have continued to grow and represent industry and technology leaders.” Matthew A. Ambros was previously a Law Clerk to the Justices of the Superior Court of Massachusetts. At LL&A, Matt will focus his practice on all aspects of intellectual property litigation. “We are delighted to be able to add Matt to our litigation team, which represents clients from an array of industries in intellectual property matters throughout the country.” said Aaron Moore, a litigation partner at LL&A. Matt is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He graduated from Northeastern University School of Law, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology from Dartmouth College. While at Dartmouth, Matt investigated the development of C. elegans using RNA interference techniques. He has previous experience with Cubist Pharmaceuticals, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts (Hon. Nancy Gertner). David M. Roccio was previously a Summer Associate at LL&A. David will focus his practice on patent counseling and prosecution in various technologies including power electronics, image processing, signal processing and control systems. “Our electrical and computer software practices have been a strength of LL&A since our early days,” said John Anastasi, a founding partner of the firm. “David will add important depth to our team,” he added. David is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He graduated from Franklin Pierce Law Center, magna cum laude, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, with honors, summa cum laude from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to pursuing a career in law, David worked as an Operations Supervisor at Anheuser-Busch. Allyson R. Hatton was previously a Technology Specialist at LL&A. She has extensive expertise in patent prosecution, general client counseling and the construction of strategic patent portfolios in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, and genetics. Allyson was a postdoctoral Fellow of the Damon Runyon-Walter Winchell Foundation in the Department of Cancer Biology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, Harvard Medical School. Allyson is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and graduated from Suffolk University School of Law, magna cum laude. She received a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University, where she was a Carnegie Scholar, and a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Centre College. David Lu is a Technology Specialist at LL&A, and focuses his practice on a variety of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, opinion work and general intellectual property counseling in the areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, genetics, as well as other areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. David was previously a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Cancer Biology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. David received his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology and a certificate in Bioinformatics and Genome Technology from Duke University Medical Center; and an M.S. in Genetics and a B.S. in Biochemistry from Fudan University (Shanghai, China). He also holds a certificate in computer software engineering from the Chinese Ministry of Electronics Industry. Prior to starting his Ph.D. study at Duke, David was a graduate research fellow at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Before that, he was an associate and project leader in a research institute affiliated with the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center in Shanghai. Anne M. Reynolds is a Technology Specialist at LL&A, and focuses her practice on a variety of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, opinion work and general intellectual property counseling in the areas of organic and inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology as well as other areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Anne was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she was the recipient of a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health. Anne received her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota where she was a National Science Foundation Predoctoral Fellow, and her B.A. in chemistry from Northwestern University, where she received a Chemistry Department Scholar Award. “We have rapidly expanded our life science practice and recently introduced a technology specialist program to assist in meeting clients’ needs as a result of that growth,” said Laurie Lawrence, an LL&A life science partner. “David and Anne, our first technology specialists, have outstanding backgrounds and experience to offer our clients,” she added. Office Expansion The firm also announced that it has recently completed its third office expansion, and extended its lease at One Main Street to close to about 30,000 square feet as the firm continues expanding its client base and team. Negotiations are already underway for another expansion in early 2009. The firm worked with Cushman & Wakefield real estate brokers along with RREEF Management, the property manager of Riverfront Office Park. Financial terms were not disclosed. The new space allows for additional attorneys and support staff and is located on the 10th floor, adjacent to LL&A’s existing space and one floor below the firm’s main reception area.
