DeVellis and Gregory K. Gerstenzang have become associated with the firm. “We are pleased to add James and Greg to our team of outstanding professionals,” said Keith Noe, LL&A’s hiring partner. “Our patent procurement and counseling practices have continued to grow with all areas of our firm. James and Greg bring technical and extensive industry experience. We have now expanded our ability to address our clients’ needs in these areas.” James C. DeVellis was most recently an associate at Modiano Josif Pisanty & Staub in Milan, Italy, where he focused on US and European patent prosecution. Prior to that international experience, James was an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group of Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP, in Boston. He is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts in Massachusetts. He graduated from Northeastern University School of Law, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut. Before entering the field of intellectual property law, James was an application engineer for a hard disk drive motor manufacturer. James has experience in a variety of electrical, electromechanical, telecommunications and software fields including wireless communications, radio frequency identification, antennae, tandem free signal oscillation, fault tolerant computer systems, milling machines, and semiconductor fabrication. James' practice includes worldwide patent prosecution and counseling, as well as drafting non-infringement and freedom to operate opinions. Gregory K. Gerstenzang was previously a summer associate at LL&A. He graduated from Franklin Pierce Law Center, cum laude, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science & Engineering from Cornell University, with distinction, and a Master of Science degree in Materials Science & Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to pursuing a career in law, Greg worked for nearly a decade in the semiconductor fabrication industry. Greg will focus his practice on patent counseling and prosecution in various technologies including semiconductor devices, integrated circuit fabrication, mechanical and electro-mechanical devices.
