Cambridge, MA, October 6, 2009 – Lando and Anastasi, LLP (L&A) today announced that Michael L. Mathaisel, Nathan T. Harris, and Peter Korakas, have joined the firm.

The Cambridge-based intellectual property law firm is one of the largest IP firms in New England. “Clients have continued to appreciate our firm’s approach to practicing law, which has always been based on excellence and value. We have always practiced with awareness of clients’ budgetary needs and, especially in the present market, clients understand that we offer the same or better quality work product at hourly rates that are at least 20% lower than our peers in this market. Michael L. Mathaisel was previously a Summer Associate at L&A. He will focus his practice on patent counseling and prosecution in various electrical and computer technologies, particularly in the area of software systems.

Michael is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He graduated from Franklin Pierce Law Center, cum laude, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University, and received a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Boston University. Prior to entering the legal profession, Michael spent more than 12 years as a software engineer with Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney World Resort.

Nathan T. Harris was previously a Student Extern with L&A. He will focus his practice on patent and trademark counseling and prosecution, and will be involved with clients in various technologies including computer system hardware and software, telecommunications, and medical devices.

Nate is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He graduated from Franklin Pierce Law Center, cum laude, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to pursuing a career in law, Nate worked for more than six years at IBM Global Services.

Peter Korakas is a Technology Specialist at L&A, and focuses his practice on a variety of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, opinion work, due diligence and general intellectual property counseling in the areas of organic and inorganic chemistry, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining L&A, he was a Technology Specialist at Ropes & Gray, LLP in New York. Peter worked in medicinal chemistry as an Associate Principal Scientist with the Schering-Plough Research Institute prior to his work in intellectual property.

Peter received his Ph.D. and Master of Science degrees in organic chemistry from Yale University under Professor John Wood, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Sacred Heart University.

Office Expansion

The firm also announced that it has recently completed its fourth office expansion, and extended its lease at One Main Street as L&A continues expanding its client base and team. The firm worked with Cushman & Wakefield real estate brokers and RREEF Management, the property manager of Riverfront Office Park, to negotiate the amended lease. Financial terms were not disclosed. The new expansion provides space for additional attorneys and support staff to be added, and is located on the 11th floor, adjacent to L&A’s existing space.
