Overview

Lowrie, Lando & Anastasi, LLP opened its doors on June 2, 2003, with three attorneys and four staff members – an event that was written up in the Boston Business Journal, the Boston Globe, and other publications. The founding attorneys included the chair of the Litigation Group at one of the largest intellectual property firms in Boston, the chair of the Patent Practice committee at that same firm, and the president of the Boston Patent Law Association. Within months of LL&A’s inception, the firm grew to more than a dozen attorneys and plans were underway to expand our office space.

Today, LL&A boasts some of the finest intellectual property specialists, with partners and associates lured from much larger local, national and international firms. All members of our legal staff are patent attorneys with undergraduate, and in many cases advanced, degrees in science or technology, making LL&A one of the largest concentrations of full time intellectual property lawyers in the Boston area.

The establishment of LL&A ran counter to recent trends in the legal profession. In the past, law firms had emphasized client service and the legal profession, in the true meaning of “profession” – business issues took a second seat. Today, law firms devote far more effort to growing per-partner-profits, finding new ways to bill clients more, and driving attorneys to work longer hours to the point where they return less value to their clients.

We believe that there is a more intelligent approach to practicing law – one that will give clients better service at a better value and which will provide more satisfying careers to our professionals.
